Under new management!

Today I accompanied Steven to an assembly in Hixon primary school. When he asked the pupils who was the new Prime Minister, lots of hands went up : David Cameron, he then asked who was the deputy-Prime Minister, and again, lots of hands, Nick Clegg. I thought that the previous week must have had so much impact on family discussions that even younger children were aware of those facts. When he asked them who was our member of Parliament and there again, hands up with the correct answer : Jeremy Lefroy.
He then showed a sign ‘Under New Management’ and through the children discovered this could be hung up either at 10 Downing Street or in the House of Commons.
This next Sunday 23rd May 2010 is Pentecost - the celebration of the giving of the Holy Spirit and consideration was given to some aspects of what the Holy Spirit does for and with us. He is our right hand helper (Paraclete) So, when you become a Christian, you are too are under new management – God is our Father (and we say ‘Your will be done’ not ‘my . . ‘ Jesus gives us his life and the Holy Spirit help us live for him and be like him. (Wow, Trinity Sunday too!)The apostle Paul says :

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17
When we accept Christ, the Holy Spirit guides us so that our lives will reflect the character of Christ. Any positive change in our life is due to God's grace, not by ourself.  As such Jesus is our King (as well as our friend) and we truly are under new management.
